Addressing a programme related to the Ladki Behen Yojana, Shinde praised Gaikwad for conceptualising the statues of saints and other personalities in Buldhana. Shinde said the Congress should protest in front of Rahul Gandhi’s residence for his statement against reservation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday supported his party Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad and asked the Congress to protest against Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on reservation. MLA Gaikwad had earlier said that a reward of Rs 11 lakh will be given to the person who cuts Rahul Gandhi’s tongue for his remarks on reservation. Gaikwad has been criticised by leaders of various parties for this.
During his recent visit to the US, Rahul Gandhi had said that the Congress party will think about ending reservation only when there is fairness in reservation in India and that is not the case now. Shinde also targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi for “supporting” terrorist Afzal Guru. Atishi is going to take oath as Delhi Chief Minister on September 21. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is claiming that Atishi’s parents had signed the mercy petition for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Addressing a programme related to the Maharashtra state government’s Ladki Behen Yojana, Shinde praised Gaikwad for conceptualising the statues of saints and other personalities in Buldhana. Shinde said, “Congress should protest in front of Rahul Gandhi’s residence for his statement against reservation. The opposition spread false rumours about changing the Constitution and ending reservation. Now Congress leaders are going abroad and talking about ending reservation. This is an insult to Babasaheb Ambedkar and the Constitution.”
Asserting that the Mahayuti was in favour of reservation to help the underprivileged sections of society, Shinde urged the people of the state to teach a lesson to those who made statements against reservation. However, Gandhi has said that his statement was misrepresented and he wants the 50 per cent cap on reservation to be removed.
Taking aim at Atishi, Shinde claimed, “People who supported terrorists like Afzal Guru are being made the chief minister of Delhi. This is treason.” Addressing the gathering, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the opposition was misleading people by claiming that funds earmarked for the welfare of Dalits, tribals and farmers were being used for the Ladki Behen scheme. “This is not true. Separate funds have been allocated for the Ladki Behen scheme. This scheme will not stop. It will continue,” he said.
