What is going on in the BJP in Uttar Pradesh? Everyone’s eyes are on this. But the person on whom most eyes are fixed is Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. When he returned from Delhi on Wednesday evening, he left the airport without saying anything. At present, his statements, social media posts and activities are being monitored. On July 14, Keshav Prasad Maurya had said in the state working committee meeting that the organization was, is and will remain bigger than the government. The meaning of his statement is being interpreted. He has a history of ups and downs in relations with CM Yogi Adityanath. The relationship between the two has not been smooth since Yogi was made the CM in 2017.
When Keshav Prasad Maurya said in the working committee that the doors of my residence 7 Kalidas Marg are always open for the workers, it was also considered a signal. Maurya said that I am a worker first and Deputy CM later. It was believed that he wanted to indicate that if there is any dissatisfaction among the workers, he is with them. In this way, Keshav Prasad Maurya tried to increase his stature in the organization. His signal was clear that he is a man of the organization. These statements of Keshav have come after the Lok Sabha elections, in which the party is looking for the reasons for the poor performance.
Especially when by-elections are going to be held on 10 assembly seats. Keshav Prasad Maurya also went to Delhi and met party chief JP Nadda there. Apart from this, Bhupendra Chaudhary also reached Delhi. A meeting was also held at PM Narendra Modi’s residence. But till now it is not clear what was discussed. Speculations are definitely being made continuously. When BJP came to power in UP in 2017, its 14 years of exile was over. Then the state president was Keshav Prasad Maurya, he also got the credit that he has been successful in connecting the backward class with BJP. He won from Sirathu in 2012 and then in 2014 for the first time, he hoisted the BJP flag on the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat.
BJP has also lost Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj
Kaushambi district is considered to be his area of influence, but he himself lost from Sirathu assembly in 2022. Not only this, BJP lost all 5 seats of Kaushambi. SP won three and Raja Bhaiya’s Jansatta Dal won two. This was a big blow for them. Then in the 2024 general elections, BJP lost Pratapgarh, Kaushambi and Prayagraj seats. Maurya is said to have influence in all three districts. These results intensified the discussion that BJP did not get Maurya and Kushwaha votes and supported INDIA Alliance.
What does Keshav Maurya’s camp think about the Lok Sabha results
On the other hand, Maurya camp says that this result has come due to the neglect of OBC leaders. Now the developments are leading to many speculations. But there is also a discussion that in Delhi, JP Nadda told Maurya not to make such statements that make the state government uncomfortable. Then why is Maurya doing this? The answer to this question is believed to be that he wants to present himself as a big leader in the party. It is an attempt to portray himself as an organization man. Apart from this, he wants to appease a section that allegedly feels neglected in the Yogi government.
