Will Arvind Kejriwal get bail or… hearing on the petition in Supreme Court today

The Supreme Court will hear Arvind Kejriwal’s petition on Wednesday. In this petition, Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the case of alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor policy. Along with this, he has also appealed for bail in this petition. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan will hear the petition of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra had assured Kejriwal of an early hearing on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam. The court extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody till September 2. Kejriwal and Kavita were presented in the court through video conferencing. Along with Kejriwal, the judicial custody of K. Kavita in this case was also extended till September 2.

Earlier, the court had extended the judicial custody of both the leaders in the CBI case till August 20. Let us tell you, Kejriwal has got bail from the Supreme Court in the ED case, but his judicial custody continues due to non-payment of bail bond. AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia have got bail from the Supreme Court in this case.

Let us tell you that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the arrest and judicial custody order made by the CBI. The CM has also sought bail from the Supreme Court. Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi had requested the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra to hear the petition immediately.

On August 5, the Delhi High Court had justified Kejriwal’s arrest. The High Court, while rejecting Kejriwal’s petition, said that the court does not see any malice in the action of the CBI. The High Court had asked Kejriwal to approach the special court for regular bail. However, Kejriwal challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court. Now a bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan will hear Kejriwal’s petition on Wednesday.
