West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is furious over the politics being done in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at a hospital in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. On Wednesday, she criticized political parties for doing cheap politics on this matter. She said, “Instead of standing with the (woman’s) family, the CPI (M) and BJP are indulging in cheap politics. They think they can turn Bengal into Bangladesh. But let me tell you, I am not greedy for power, I will never let this happen.”
The Chief Minister said that all steps have been taken in the case of rape and murder of the doctor, yet the malicious campaign continues. On the protests taking place in this matter, Mamata said, “You are free to abuse me, but do not abuse West Bengal.” She said that the government will give full cooperation to the CBI in the investigation of this case. The Chief Minister said that she also wants this case to be solved soon.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the CPI(M) and the BJP are trying to organize a Bangladesh-like protest to grab power in Bengal. She has also appealed to the protesting doctors to return to work. She also hit back at those who criticized the Bengal government for handling the matter and said that she herself monitored the case overnight and spoke to the police commissioner and the woman’s parents as soon as she came to know about the crime. Mamata Banerjee asked, what action did we not take in this case?
