Xiaomi 15 Ultra to Soon Launch in India, Ceramic, Glass Rear Panel Options May be Provided

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi’s Xiaomi 15 Ultra may be launched soon. It can replace the company’s 14 Ultra model. It can be given Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as a processor. Three different rear panel materials can be given in this smartphone.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed in a post on Chinese messaging platform Weibo that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra may feature three different rear panel materials. Company The current Xiaomi 14 Ultra has an aluminum frame. Its rear panel is made of vegan leather. This smartphone can have Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as a processor. It has a 2K resolution display with micro curves on the sides. Its quad camera unit can have a 50-megapixel primary camera and a new periscope camera.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra was launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February this year. Its sole variant with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is priced at Rs 99,999. Smartphone shipments in the first half of the current year grew by 7.2 percent year-on-year to around 69 million units. Smartphone shipments in the second quarter grew by about 3.2 percent to around 35 million units.

According to a report by market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), many new smartphones have been launched in the second quarter. Most of these were in the mid-premium and premium segments. However, shipments of entry-level smartphones (price less than Rs 8,400) in the second quarter declined by 36 percent year-on-year. The market share of this segment has come down from 22 percent in the same quarter last year to around 14 percent. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has the highest share in this. It is followed by Poco and Realme. Shipments in the budget segment of smartphones (price around Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800) have increased by about 8 percent. Xiaomi is also at the forefront in this segment. It is followed by China’s Realme and Vivo. The entry-premium segment (price around Rs 16,800 to Rs 33,500) has seen the highest growth of 42 percent. Oppo is at the forefront in this. It is followed by Vivo and Samsung.
