The newspaper’s report said that after diverting Russia’s attention on the Kursk region, Ukraine is unlikely to have enough security forces to achieve success by attacking in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The Ukrainian army crossed the Russian border on August 6 and launched an offensive operation in the Kursk region. Commenting on the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine has committed another large-scale provocation by indiscriminate firing on civilian targets. He said that the enemy will get a befitting reply in the border areas of Russia.
Russia deployed thousands of soldiers in Kursk
“We have seen some Russian units redeploying from around Ukraine to the Kursk region. However, it is unclear how many troops have been deployed,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby said. Russia has sent a large number of military conscripts to defend Kursk.
However, the loss of a few thousand soldiers is unlikely to have a major impact on the Ukrainian front, as Russia has millions of troops there. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian logistics hub Pokrovsk has also come under particular pressure.
