Bihar Flood: Rainfall in Nepal, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand has caused the rivers of North Bihar as well as South Bihar to swell. The water level of major rivers continues to rise.
Bihar Flood : Floods in Bihar without rain have increased difficulties. The state has received 27% less rain than normal but the rivers are in a tremendous flood. Due to this, there is no possibility of relief from floods in 12 districts of the state for the next 72 hours. Only after this is the water level of the rivers expected to go below the red mark. The most surprising thing is that after the first fortnight of September has passed, such a flood in the rivers has not happened before. The situation is such that more than half a dozen rivers are flowing above the danger mark for the last more than 100 hours. Not only this, the Ganges is in its fierce form.
Rainfall in Nepal, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand has caused the rivers of North Bihar as well as South Bihar to swell. The water level of major rivers is continuing to rise. In view of the rise in rivers, all the gates of Farakka Barrage as well as Indrapuri and Veerpur Barrage have been completely opened. Apart from Ganga, the water level of Kosi, Budhi Gandak, Gandak, Ghaghra, Punpun and Son rivers has been continuously above the danger mark for the last 100 hours.
The water level of Ganga is rising rapidly from Patna to Farakka. The situation is such that water has entered many areas of Bhagalpur city. Water is flowing near Ghoshpur on Sabour-Kahalgaon NH-80. Meanwhile, the number of flood victims has increased due to the spread of water in new areas of the state on Saturday. People of 327 Gram Panchayats of 61 blocks of 12 districts are facing the threat of migration. After this, the government has intensified the relief and rescue work.
The help of NDRF and SDRF is being taken to rescue people trapped in low-lying areas. 1280 boats are being operated for transportation. 18 boat ambulances are being operated for medical assistance. So far, 57 thousand 500 polythene sheets and 11 thousand dry ration packets have been distributed. Eight relief camps and 125 community kitchen centers are being operated in various districts.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed to provide full assistance to the flood victims. On Saturday, he took stock of the rising water level of Ganga around Patna by road. He inspected the Ganga Path from Digha Ghat to Kagan Ghat. Stopping at Kagan Ghat, Gandhi Ghat and Krishna Ghat, he saw the condition of the areas around Ganga and took information from the officials. The Chief Minister instructed the DM of Patna to remain alert and make all preparations in view of the rising water level in the areas along the banks of Ganga. He said that the disaster victims have the first right on the government treasury.
