Gadkari said that it will be liked a lot because it will save a lot on the running cost. The range of Freedom 125 is about 330 km. It has a two kg CNG tank and a two liter petrol tank. Its CNG tank is under the seat. It will be available in three variants of Drum, Drum LED and Disc LED and seven dual-tone colors. The price of its top variant is about Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Gadkari said, “We are the largest exporter of two-wheelers in the world. I am confident that it will get more sales because the cost is low. The cost of running a petrol-powered two-wheeler is Rs 2.25 per kilometer, while for CNG it is only one rupee per kilometer. This is a huge saving.” He expressed hope that in the next five years India will become the second largest automobile manufacturing destination in the world.
Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, said, “This will give freedom from oil imports, range tensions, charging concerns, emissions and boring designs of commuter bikes.” He also took a dig at the subsidies being given on electric two-wheelers. However, Bajaj Auto has the Chetak electric scooter in this segment.
This year, the company can also introduce a 400 cc single cylinder Pulsar. The company’s Chetak electric scooter is also getting a good response from customers. Recently, a new variant of the Chetak electric scooter has been launched. It is being called Chetak 2901. Its price is Rs 95,998 (ex-showroom). It has been made available in White, Lime Yellow, Azure Blue, Red and Black colors. Its ARAI range is more than 120 kilometers. Customers who buy it also have the option to upgrade its features with TecPac.
