After the meeting of the Union Cabinet, many important projects in the country have been approved. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, while talking about the decisions, said that the government has approved two new airports and three metro projects. Of these metro projects, one will start in Bengaluru and two projects will start in Maharashtra. At the same time, Bihar was given a special gift in this meeting. Rs 1413 crore has been approved for the airport in Bihta, 28 km from Patna. The Union Minister said that these metro projects will help the middle class the most. Bengaluru, which is called an IT hub, will get a lot of help from this.
Three big metro projects approved, metro will start operating by 2029
While talking about the Metro projects, the Cabinet Minister said that transportation is a major factor in the development of the middle class in cities. Metro as an infrastructure for the middle class in cities has expanded a lot in the last 10 years. While only 5 cities had Metro 10 years ago, today there is Metro in 21 cities. Keeping this in mind, the Cabinet has decided that in the third phase of Metro Rail in Bengaluru, a 44.65 km line will be developed, which is estimated to cost Rs 15,611 crore. There will be 31 metro stations on this line and it will make commuting easier for Peenya Industrial Area, Bannerghatta Road, Outer Ring Road and Tumkur Industrial Area. This will increase the Metro Rail network in Bengaluru city to 220 km and the number of regular Metro passengers will reach 26 lakh.
Apart from this, a new 29 km line will be constructed under the Thane Metro Rail project, which will cost Rs 12,200 crore. He said that the Thane Metro Rail network will also be connected to the Mumbai Metro Rail network and the bullet train network under construction. This will double the Metro Rail network in Pune. The construction work of this metro route with a total of 22 stations will be completed by 2029, in which up to three kilometers of the route will be underground.
He said that the Cabinet has approved the proposal for a new 5.46 km line between Swargate and Katraj in Pune. This will benefit areas like Market Yard Bibvewadi and Balaji Nagar. The project will cost Rs 2954.53 crore and will be operational by February 2029.
Bihar got the gift of a new airport
Regarding the airport project, Shri Vaishnav informed that in view of the increasing crowd at Patna airport and the requirements of future expansion of the city, a new project will be started for the development of civil airport at Bihta, located about 28 km from Patna. Rs 1413 crore will be spent on this. A terminal building will be constructed in an area of 66 thousand square meters at the civil airport of Bihta, which will have the facility to accommodate three thousand passengers during peak hours. The annual capacity of Bihta airport will be 50 lakh, which can be increased to one crore. Ten aircraft can be parked simultaneously for passengers at this airport.
Apart from this, the Cabinet has also approved the project to build a new civil airport at Bagdogra Air Force Station. The cost of which will be Rs 15.49 crore. A terminal building will be built there in an area of 70390 square meters.
