Cryptocurrency, Dark Web Enormous Challenges in Fight Against drugs trafficking: Amit Shah

In the last few years, the Central Government has launched a big campaign against drugs. Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that cryptocurrency, dark web, online marketplaces and drones are a challenge in efforts to curb drug smuggling in the country. He said that strict measures are needed to control this.

Shah chairing a conference on “Drug Trafficking and National Security” Said That not even a single kilogram of drugs will be allowed to be smuggled in and out of the country. He said that the government has destroyed many drug smuggling networks as well as terrorism related to them. Shah said that many cases of drugs and terrorism have been detected in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. “Cryptocurrency, dark web, online marketplaces and use of drones remain a major challenge,” he said. Shah said that to deal with these problems, the central government, states and technocrats will have to find technical solutions through joint efforts.

He said, “There has been a seven-fold increase in drug seizures in the last 10 years, which is a big achievement. The Modi government has given a strong message to break the entire drug network through strict action.” Shah said that last year the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the police have seized drugs worth about Rs 16,914 crore. This is an important step in creating a drug free society. He said, “No country can move forward on the path of development with the young generation suffering from drug addiction. It is our responsibility to fight this challenge and make all efforts to win this battle.”

Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also warned again about cryptocurrencies. Along with this, cryptocurrencies were described as a big risk to financial and monetary stability. Former RBI Governor Shantikanta Das had said, “I believe that it should not be allowed to dominate the financial system. This poses a big risk to financial stability. Cryptocurrencies also pose a risk to the banking system. This has created such a situation. “In which the Central Bank’s control over the supply of funds in the economy may end.”
