Explosion on SN Banerjee Road in Kolkata; Bag exploded while being checked, one person injured

There has been an explosion in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. One person was injured in this incident and has been admitted to NRS Medical College and Hospital. It is being told that a suspicious bag was reported on SN Banerjee Road and the blast took place while it was being investigated.

Kolkata Police said, ‘At around 13.45 pm, information was received that there was an explosion between Blochman Street and SN Banerjee Road. A person/ragpicker has been injured. Immediately after this, OC Taltala went there and found that the injured was taken to NRS and he had suffered an injury on his right wrist.’

Police said that the area was cordoned off with security tape and then the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team was called. After this, BDDS employees arrived, checked the bag and the surroundings. After their departure, traffic was allowed. It is being told that as soon as the blast took place, there was chaos at the spot. However, the situation seems to be normal now. Vigilance has been increased by the police team.
