Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested the fifth accused on Thursday after interrogating the four smugglers of the biggest ever network of cocaine smuggling. The arrest was confirmed by Special Cell’s Additional CP Pramod Kushwaha. He told that the accused was caught when he was trying to flee to Britain.
After the arrest, the police is now coming to Delhi with the fifth accused. Special Cell said that Jitendra Singh Gill alias JC is a key member of this international drugs network. Police arrested him from Amritsar airport. He is originally from Punjab, but has been living in Britain for the last 25 years.
After preliminary interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that Jitendra Singh Gill was supervising this entire network while staying in Britain. Actually this was the link between Tushar Goyal and Veeru, the alleged businessman who operated this network from Dubai. He was supervising this entire network on his instructions. And that’s why he came to India.
During interrogation, he also told that he was in constant touch with Tushar Goyal regarding planning to bring this consignment of cocaine to his warehouse and supply it. He had come to India only a few months ago for this operation. He had to return to Britain after consuming this consignment of cocaine.
Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Police had busted an international drug syndicate and arrested four accused and seized the largest consignment of narcotics in the city so far. During this period, the police had seized more than 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of ‘hydroponic marijuana’, whose estimated value is around Rs 5,620 crore. The Special Cell of Delhi Police took this action in Mahipalpur, South Delhi and seized a consignment weighing a total of 602 kg from them.
The arrested persons were identified as Delhi residents Tushar Goyal (40), Himanshu Kumar (27) and Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Mumbai resident Bharat Kumar Jain (48). While the fifth accused was arrested from Amritsar on Thursday.
Giving information about this, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) PS Kushwaha had said that Goyal, living in the posh area of Vasant Vihar, was the main distributor of narcotics in India for this international gang. He told that the other three were his associates.
Kushwaha had told that Jain had come to Delhi to collect a consignment of 15 kg of cocaine from Goyal, when on October 1, all four were arrested outside a warehouse in Mahipalpur. He said that 22 cartons of banned drugs were found in the warehouse, which contained 547 kg of cocaine and more than 40 kg of ‘hydroponic marijuana’.
According to the police, the estimated price of cocaine in the international market is Rs 10 crore per kg and the price of ‘hydroponic marijuana’ is Rs 50 lakh per kg.
