Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who reached Kathua to campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, fell ill while giving a speech on the stage. After this, his speech was interrupted and the party leaders held his hand and made him sit on a chair. Party leaders said that now his condition is stable and doctors have been called to check him. Kharge was paying tribute to a head constable who was martyred in the ongoing operation with terrorists in Kathua. Two other policemen have been injured and a terrorist has been killed in this incident.
“He was addressing a public meeting in Jasrota when he started feeling uneasy and dizzy. His colleagues helped him sit on a chair,” Congress general secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir told PTI. He told that the condition of the Congress President is stable. Kharge had gone to Jasrota to address a rally to garner support for his party candidates in the assembly elections. He is also scheduled to address another public meeting in Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
Addressing the rally before his health deteriorated, Kharge said, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have decided that this time they have to bring the alliance of Congress and NC to the government. BJP people come here and give inflammatory speeches. But they should know that this causes harm to the people of the country, especially the poor and our mothers and sisters. BJP made a lot of promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but they did nothing. Now Amit Shah says that we will provide five lakh jobs. But the question is, what did you do in 10 years, why were you not given jobs? 65% government posts are vacant in Jammu and Kashmir, why have you not filled these posts in so many years? The reality is that they only want to mislead people.
Jammu and Kashmir Congress vice president Ravindra Sharma said Kharge felt dizzy and was taken to a room, where doctors were called for examination. He said he would advise whether he could attend the second rally or not. Let us tell you that assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after ten years, while assembly elections are also being held in Haryana. After voting in Haryana on October 5, the results of both the states will be announced on October 8.
