Maruti Suzuki Dispatched 20 Lakh Vehicles through Railways, 27 Crore Liter Fuel Saved

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has dispatched about 20 lakh vehicles through railways in the last few years. The company said that dispatching a large number of vehicles through railways during FY 2015 to FY 2024 has saved about 27 crore liters of fuel. This has also reduced the emission of about 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

In FY15, the company dispatched around 65,700 vehicles through railways. In FY24, this number increased almost seven times to around 4,47,750 units. The share of railways in the company’s vehicle dispatch has increased from about 5 percent to about 21.5 percent during this period. Last month, Maruti Suzuki’s sales stood at 1,37,160 units. Including exports, the company’s total sales are 1,79,228 units. The company’s sales in the country have increased by about 4,000 units compared to the same month last year. Its utility vehicles continue to perform strongly. However, the company’s sales have declined in the mini and compact segments.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold 9,395 units of Alto and S-Presso. In the same month last year, these sales were more than 14,000 units. Sales of the company’s models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR also declined marginally to 64,049 units. Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles received a good response from the customers in June. Last month, the company sold 52,373 units of Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny and Invicto in this segment. In the same month last year, these sales were of 43,404 units.

Maruti Suzuki Swift’s sales have crossed 30 lakh units. The updated model of Swift was introduced earlier this year. The new Swift has a design change as well as an upgraded engine. Its compact crossover Fronx has also received a good response. It was launched in April last year. Its sales have crossed 1.5 lakh units. It is based on the company’s most sold Baleno. Fronx crossed the sales of one lakh units within 10 months of its launch.
