Mayawati attacked Modi government on creamy layer, said- assurances will not work, call a special session

SC-ST Reservation: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati expressed her views on the Supreme Court’s decision on the implementation of creamy layer in SC-ST reservations through a press conference on Saturday. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances will not work. She said that the central government should call a session of Parliament and clarify the status of reservation in the case of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Creamy Layer. Along with this, the states in which Congress, BJP and Apna Dal are in power should also clarify their position on reservation. Along with this, Mayawati alleged that the Modi government did not plead properly in the Supreme Court on this issue.

BSP supremo Mayawati was talking to journalists at the party office on Saturday. She said that the central government has not clarified its position completely on the decision of the Supreme Court on August 1. She said that if the center thinks that giving assurances will do the job, then it is not so. They should call a session of Parliament and clarify the situation on this. If the Prime Minister’s intentions are clear, then he should not adjourn the session of Parliament before time, he should call a special session and completely clear the picture regarding reservation.

Mayawati said that the central government should have brought a bill in the Parliament regarding the Supreme Court’s decision but it did not happen. She said that BJP and Congress are against reservation. Ending jobs and appointing employees on contract is also an attempt to end reservation. Mayawati said that SC-ST people are feeling cheated. There is a conspiracy to end reservation on the pretext of creamy layer. The session of Parliament ended but the bill did not come. It seems that reservation is being made ineffective.

He said that those who pretended to save the Constitution in the Lok Sabha elections are now not saying anything on the issue of reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Creamy Layer. Whether it is Samajwadi Party or Congress, this issue was not raised properly in the Parliament session. The 40 crore Scheduled Caste and Tribe people of the country are feeling cheated by BJP as well as Congress.
