There is news of relief on the political front for the Aam Aadmi Party, which is surrounded by legal troubles. Before the assembly elections, a rebel leader of the party has apologized and vowed to stay with the party for life. Vijay Kumar, who was suspended for staking claim for the post of deputy mayor in the MCD, has apologized and said that he will never go against the leadership now. It has not been made clear by the Aam Aadmi Party yet whether Vijay Kumar will be forgiven or not.
Councillor Vijay Kumar from ward 192 of Trilokpuri has apologized to the party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders and has vowed that he will not repeat the mistake again and will remain with the Aam Aadmi Party for life. Vijay Kumar has released a video of him taking an oath in the name of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Vijay Kumar wrote on his ex handle, ‘I was, am and will remain a member of Aam Aadmi Party. I apologize to the top leadership Arvind Kejriwal ji, Manish Sisodia ji, Durgesh Pathak and Atishi ji for my mistakes. I also apologize to my elder brother Kuldeep Kumar ji. We all are soldiers of Aam Aadmi Party. We all stand shoulder to shoulder with Delhi’s popular Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the calamity that has befallen him.’
Vijay Kumar has also posted a video in which he is saying, ‘I swear in the name of Baba Saheb that I apologize to the top leadership for the mistake I have committed. I will never make the same mistake in the future. I will remain in the Aam Aadmi Party for life. I assure the top leadership that I will never go against them.’
On June 15, Aam Aadmi Party suspended Vijay Kumar, saying that he was involved in anti-party activities. He was constantly making statements against the party. He was echoing the sentiments of another rebel leader Nitin Tyagi. He had sounded the bugle of rebellion in the party in April this year itself. Vijay Kumar had rebelled during the proposed elections in MCD and staked claim to the post of deputy mayor. Many efforts were made to persuade Vijay Kumar. But he refused to listen to the party and said that no pressure should be put on him, he will contest the elections.
