Elon Musk has revealed the timeline of the Mars mission. He said that he wants to establish a colony on Mars in the next 20 years. Musk has made this claim after building a completely reusable rocket. Musk said on X that sending a one-ton payload to Mars costs about one billion dollars. In such a situation, 10 thousand times better technology is needed to establish a colony on Mars. This is definitely difficult but not impossible.
Tesla Chief said that Starship will be launched for Mars in the next two years. He said, first an unmanned spacecraft will be sent to test landing on Mars. If the landing goes well, the first manned spacecraft will be sent to Mars in the next four years. He said, the flight rate will be continuously increased with the aim of establishing a colony on Mars in the next 20 years. He said that with the possibility of life on other planets, the lifespan of humans will increase.
Why is Mars the target?
The average distance of Mars from Earth was 140 million miles. In such a situation, it is the closest planet to Earth. Despite being 50 percent farther from the Sun than Earth, enough energy reaches it. SpaceX said, this planet is a little cold but it can be heated. Its atmosphere contains both carbon dioxide and nitrogen, argon. This means that the atmosphere of Mars is shrinking.
Mars has 38 percent gravity as compared to Earth. In such a situation, it will be easy to lift heavy things on it. Apart from this, the day on Mars is also almost equal to that on Earth. Some time ago scientists had said that a way has been discovered to heat Mars. For this, artificial particles made of iron and aluminum will be sent in the form of aerosols. This will block the sunlight on Mars and slowly heat the surface.
