Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Pune visit has been cancelled. This decision has been taken due to the heavy rains here. PM Modi was to participate in many programs in Pune. He was to inaugurate the new metro line starting from Civil Court to Swargate. After this, the Prime Minister would also travel to Swargate by this metro. Then from there, PM Modi was scheduled to go to SP College, where he was to address a public meeting. But due to the continuous rain in the city, PM Modi will not go there today.

It is worth noting that since Wednesday, Pune and its surrounding areas have been facing heavy rains. 130 mm of rain has fallen here. The weather department has warned of rain here on Thursday as well. Due to this, the preparations for PM Modi’s program were also affected. Pune DM Suhas Diwase had ordered to keep all schools closed on Thursday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for Mumbai and its surrounding districts Thane, Palghar and Raigad for Thursday morning. Due to heavy rains on Wednesday, low-lying areas of Mumbai were flooded, local train traffic was disrupted and at least 14 flights coming to Mumbai had to be diverted.

Due to extremely heavy rains in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Thursday. Due to heavy rains, schools and colleges will also remain closed on Thursday in Thane, Palghar, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The BMC and police have advised all people in Mumbai and surrounding areas to stay indoors.
