PM Modi Russia tour update: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Moscow for his two-day visit to Russia. He was given a grand welcome at the airport. He was honoured with a guard of honour at the airport by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturo. PM Modi will soon meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin is going to organise a private dinner outside Moscow tonight in honour of PM Modi. The dinner will be organised in a cottage. This is Modi’s first visit to Russia in the last five years and his first foreign visit in his third term. Putin and PM Modi are going to have a summit meeting to explore opportunities to increase cooperation in areas like energy and defence.

PM Narendra Modi has received a grand welcome on Russian soil. PM Modi’s plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport at 2:45 pm local time. The Russian government honored him with a guard of honor at the airport itself. PM Modi has reached Russia for the first time in five years. This is also his first bilateral foreign visit in his third term. Earlier, PM Modi visited Russia in 2019. At that time PM Modi participated in an economic conference in Vladivostok. PM Modi has reached Russia as part of a two-day visit. After completing his visit to Russia, Modi will leave for Austria.

For the first time, Putin sent his deputy PM to welcome a head of state
To honour PM Modi, Russian President Putin sent the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister Manturov to receive him. This was the first time that Manturov received a foreign head of government at the airport. Earlier, during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow, he was received by a junior Deputy Prime Minister to Manturov. A joint contingent of the Russian armed forces presented a guard of honour to Modi and after this Manturov left for the hotel in the same car with Modi.

Private dinner with Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin has organized a private dinner and meeting in honor of Mr. Modi between 7 pm and 9 pm local time. The 22nd summit between Putin and Modi is scheduled to be held on Tuesday. In this meeting, discussions will be held on further expanding bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields including trade, energy and defense. India and Russia have so far held 21 annual summits in turn. The last summit was held in New Delhi on 6 December 2021. President Vladimir Putin came to India to participate in this summit. Putin has visited India nine times as the head of state of Russia.

PM Modi’s programs in Russia
The Prime Minister is on an official visit to Moscow on 8-9 July at the invitation of the President of Russia for the 22nd Annual Summit. In Moscow, the Prime Minister will also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin and then visit the Exhibition Centre in Moscow. These engagements will be followed by a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, followed by delegation level talks led by Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Putin.

Modi will visit Austria on July 9
PM Modi will leave for Vienna from Moscow on July 9 in the afternoon. Modi will be in Austria on July 9-10 at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Austria. The last PM visit from India to Austria was 40 years ago. In Vienna, apart from his ceremonial welcome, PM will also meet the Austrian President and hold one-on-one and delegation level meetings along with high-level business engagements in Austria.
