Rohit and Gambhir face a challenge in choosing the pitch of Kanpur, if this happens then a change will have to be made in the playing XI

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir will have a big challenge in choosing the pitch for the India vs Bangladesh second Test starting on September 27. According to a recent report, Kanpur curators have prepared two pitches for the India vs Bangladesh second Test. According to Rev Sports, one is Kanpur’s traditional black soil pitch, which is known to help spinners. It gets slow as the game progresses, but is generally good for batting in the first two days. The second pitch is similar to the Chennai pitch, where fast bowlers will get help in the first two days.

Let us tell you, 17 wickets fell on the second day of the first Test in Chennai, which is the highest number of wickets fallen in a day on this ground so far. The top order of both the teams was seen struggling in the first innings. If there was no record partnership for the seventh wicket between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, India could have been in trouble.

The final decision on the type of pitch to be used in the Kanpur Test is now likely to come from the Indian team management led by captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Given Bangladesh’s strong spin attack and their batsmen’s good grip against the turning ball, the possibility of a Chennai-like pitch cannot be ruled out, with India’s fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akashdeep playing on it.

But if Gambhir and Rohit decide to use a conventional slow pitch, India could make a change to their XI and include left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav in place of Akashdeep.
