Tata Motors’ SUV models will get a discount of up to Rs 1.4 lakh. The price of its Safari will start from Rs 15.49 lakh and Harrier from Rs 14.99 lakh. The company said that each of its SUVs has contributed to reaching this milestone. To meet the expectations of customers, Tata Motors’ focus is on safety, design and technology. It is soon preparing to launch Curvv and Curvv EV in this segment. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “Our success lies in offering the right SUV for each customer segment.”
The company plans to set up a factory in Tamil Nadu. This factory will manufacture luxury cars under the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand. In the last financial year, JLR’s sales in the country grew by 81 percent. An investment of one billion dollars can be made in this factory. Earlier, Tata Motors and JLR had signed an agreement for licensing JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. This platform will be used in Tata Motors’ upcoming electric vehicles. Sales of JLR’s SUVs like Range Rover and Defender have grown rapidly in the country. Its models like Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque are also getting a good response.
Recently, Tata Motors tied up with Shell to expand the charging infrastructure for EVs. These charging stations will be installed at the fuel stations of British oil and gas company Shell in the country. EV sales have grown rapidly in the last few years. Tata Motors’ EV customers use Tata Power’s EV chargers as well as third-party EV charging networks. Tata Power has more than 8,000 EV charging stations. The company ranks first in the EV segment with a share of about 80 percent.
