WhatsApp says that users can avail the ticketing and chatbot service on the app on both Android and iOS platforms. The feature is available in two languages: English and Hindi and can be activated by texting ‘Hi’ to +91 9650855800. Apart from this, the DMRC chatbot can also be found in the ‘Chat with businesses’ option in the Payments section of WhatsApp.
To recharge the smart card, users will first have to select their preferred language and then tap on the smart card top-up option. The WhatsApp chatbot will then provide a link that will take the user to the payment gateway. Users can then enter the card number, choose the top-up amount and make the payment to complete the recharge.
According to the company, passengers can use various payment options, such as UPI and credit/debit cards. While top-up via UPI does not involve any additional charges, debit card transactions will attract a fee of 0.40 per cent, while transactions made via credit cards will attract a fee of 1.10 per cent.
WhatsApp says that the new Delhi Metro Smart Card recharge service is available for all routes in Delhi and NCR region, including the Rapid Metro in Gurugram.
