Why Congress got stuck in the decision on 38 seats, internal conflict and reconciliation with AAP increased the difficulty

BJP has released the list of 67 candidates for Haryana assembly elections, but Congress’s list is yet to come. Congress had a meeting of the election committee for two consecutive days on Monday and Tuesday. It is reported that about 66 seats were discussed in this meeting, out of which consensus has been reached on 52. At the same time, a decision has not been taken yet on 38 seats. The reason for this is that there is a challenge to balance the caste and social equations on these seats. Apart from this, different groups are staking claim. Congress sources say that the names of 52 candidates have been finalized in two meetings of the election committee. Out of these, 28 are sitting MLAs.

Party sources say that Congress’s list will come out soon. This is because on the advice of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Congress was constantly delaying the announcement of candidates because he wanted BJP to announce the names first. In such a situation, Congress’s list can come at least for those seats from where BJP has decided the candidates. Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Bhupinder Singh Hooda have different camps in Congress. All three are staking claim on many seats. Due to this, the announcement of names has been stalled.

Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala themselves are ready to contest. In such a situation, Congress has to take a decision on this too, while Bhupinder Hooda is against giving tickets to these leaders. This is because he considers Kumari Selja as his rival. Another important thing is that the decision has not been taken on most of those seats where BJP had lost in the last assembly elections. Till now, Hooda’s will has prevailed in ticket distribution, but the high command also does not want that Selja and Surjewala should be sidelined completely.

This is because the party does not want to give any indication of a rift. Therefore, efforts are being made to decide on the remaining names with everyone’s consent. Now it is being said that a committee has been formed for the remaining 38 seats. This committee will see which candidates can win. Only they will be given tickets. Deepak Babaria, Madhusudan Mistry, Ajay Maken, TS Singh Dev and some other leaders have been included in this committee. There is also a problem regarding ticket distribution regarding the alliance with Aam Aadmi Party. The party feels that seats should be decided with AAP first, only then the candidates should be declared.
